ACUCOBOL-85 for Windows, version 2.3.1 ====================================== Installation ============ Note that the files contained on the diskette are compressed. You must use the setup utility contained on the diskette to use these files. To run setup, go to the Program Manager, select "File", "Run" from the menu and type "a:\setup" (or "b:\setup"). Installed Files =============== For a complete list of the files installed, see the ACUCOBOL-85 manual. In the main directory, you will find the executables for the compiler, runtime and utility programs. The subdirectory "library" contains all the files needed to relink the runtime system, but is otherwise not needed. The "sample" subdirectory contains all of the sample COBOL programs and COPY libraries. Sample Program Manager Group ============================ The setup program creates (at your option) a sample Program Manager group. This contains icons that will compile and run one of the sample programs. To compile the program, double-click on the "Compile Sample" and "Compile Message" icons. To run, double-click on the "Run Sample" icon. To run the sample under the debugger, double-click on the "Debug Sample" icon. If you would like to arrange for similar icons for your programs, you can examine how these icons are arranged by selecting them in the Program Manager and then selecting the "File", "Properties" menu item. TOOLHELP.DLL and Windows 3.0 ============================ If you plan to run under Windows 3.0, you must install the file TOOLHELP.DLL into the Windows system directory. The ACUCOBOL-85 setup program does this automatically when needed. However, if you plan to redistribute your application to machines running Windows 3.0, you must be sure to include this file and install it properly on the target machine. If the runtime cannot find this file, it pops up a message box indicating that it is missing. This file is not needed for Windows 3.1. Its functions are built into the operating system.
